CrEATefest: Hands-On Arts and Food Truck Fest to benefit local organization

createfestChanging Worlds, a local nonprofit organization is hosting CrEATefest, a hands-on arts and food truck festival on Sunday, August 9, 2015. This family-friendly event will join art enthusiasts, foodies and families for a day of arts and eats with live music, dancing, food trucks, art activities and student art exhibitions. The festival will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bridgeport Arts Center (1200 W. 35th Street).

CrEATefest will feature entertainment by The Exceptions, Northern Trust’s employee band, along with face painting, dance lessons, mural making and much more. Among the featured food truck offerings are Asian fusion cuisine provided by Yum Dum and lobster rolls provided by Da Lobster, the contemporary gorditas of Ofrenda, and the tasty fare of Husky Hog BBQ and Chicago Cupcakes. Hands on visual art workshops will take place in the Bridgeport Art Center, will start at 10 a.m., and will occur every hour on the hour. Activities are appropriate for all ages and range from paper sculpture and mask-making to self-portraits.

Tickets start at $7.00 and can be purchased online at www.createfest.eventbrite.com. Admission includes two bite-sized portions from participating food trucks to whet your palate, a beverage and the option to purchase additional food directly from the food trucks.

All proceeds from the festival will benefit Changing Worlds’ arts and cultural awareness programs provided across the Chicagoland area.
