State Rep. Theresa Mah (D-2nd), reminds residents that the open enrollment deadline to sign up for health coverage through the individual marketplace of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is Saturday, Dec. 15.

“Donald Trump and his extreme allies in Washington continue to push health plans that will devastate our families and strip protections for people with pre-existing conditions,” Mah said. “The Trump Administration has eliminated vital funding to help connect residents to lifesaving care, that’s why it’s so important that we work together to make sure families submit their application on time.”

Residents can view their options and choose a plan that best fits the needs of their family through the federal exchange at healthcare.gov or by calling 800-318-2596. They can also visit Get Covered Illinois at getcovered.illinois.gov or by calling 866-311-1119.

In Illinois, a family of four earning less than $104,000 might be eligible for subsidies to offset the cost of insurance. To see how much an individual might save, go to healthcare.gov/lower-costs.

“There are resources available to help individuals select a quality health care plan that fits their needs,” Mah said. “It’s critical that families get a head start on picking a plan to ensure that they and their loved ones receive the best care possible.”

For more information, contact Mah’s constituent service office at (872) 281-5775.
